The Academic Standard does not accept institutional advertising that would be confused with reporting, except insofar as much of higher education already is. Contributors disclose visiting appointments, advisory roles and metric consultancy where these would reasonably inform a reader, and sometimes where they would not.
We do not impersonate living persons. We do invent plausible ones. Fictional universities in these pages are composites; if a real university recognizes itself, that is a matter between the university and its communications office.
Sources in satirical pieces are invented. The incentives they describe are not offered as confidential.
