A scholar ranked among the world’s “top 2% scientists” celebrated another landmark achievement this week after publishing his 200th article of the year, co-authored with the same rotating network of 45 researchers who have collectively cited one another 18,742 times.
“This represents a major contribution to knowledge,” said the professor, whose recent publications include Emerging Perspectives on Contemporary Approaches: A Bibliometric Analysis, Contemporary Approaches to Emerging Perspectives: A Systematic Review, and A Systematic Review of Bibliometric Analyses of Emerging Contemporary Perspectives.
The papers appeared principally in the International Journal of Advanced Multidisciplinary Innovative Global Research, where six members of the group serve as editors, nine as associate editors, and the remaining 30 comprise the journal’s “international scientific advisory board.”
Researchers praised the extraordinary productivity.
“To publish 200 serious articles in a year would normally require reading, research, writing, and thought,” said one colleague. “Fortunately, those bottlenecks appear to have been overcome.”
The group’s citation impact has been equally impressive. Each new article cites approximately 35 previous articles by members of the group, which in turn cite earlier papers by the same authors demonstrating the importance of the literature now citing them.
“This is not a citation circle,” one co-author stressed. “It is a citation ecosystem.”
At press time, the university had issued a press release congratulating the scholar on entering the global top 1%, while the group’s journal announced a special issue titled “Research Excellence, Impact, and the Future of Research Excellence.”
